2016 TASH Conference has ended
Each year, the TASH Conference strengthens the disability field by connecting attendees to innovative information and resources, facilitating connections between stakeholders within the disability movement, and helping attendees reignite their passion for an inclusive world. This year’s conference theme, “Gateway to Equity,” explores inclusive communities, schools, and workplaces that support people with disabilities, including those with complex support needs, in living a fair, just, and balanced life. Snapshots of the last forty years of services for individuals with disabilities will be presented in stories from a memoir of a career as a special education professor who is also an aunt. Each story is chosen to show how the author was surprised by abilities, touched by friendship, and challenged to ask more of education than once thought possible. 1. Know how services evolved over the last 40 years through hearing scenes from four decades. 2. Receive inspiration to keep working for more opportunities. 3. Be open to being surprised by individual's abilities. 4. Learn how to put one's first person experiences into a story format.
